Sikaron Karate Federation Home

Sikaron Karate was born from the traditional roots of Sikaran Karate, a Philippine foot fighting martial art which used the legs exclusively for kicking, leg & foot sweeps, and leg entanglements. The hands were only used to pull the opponent into the paralyzing and killing kicks of Sikaran Karate.

Cikaron Karate was founded in 1965 by Segi Tanaguchi and Art Skorka and brought to the United States in 1967 under the IOK International Organization of Karate. Cikaron karate an off-shoot of the traditional Sikaran Karate system, and incorporated Judo, Jujitsu and Karate techniques utilizing hand, punching and throwing techniques thus giving it a broader range of techniques and appeal to the Western world. Because the system changed, so did the name from Sikaran Karate to Cikaron Karate.

In 1985, Prof. Holifield created the Sikaron Karate system, an integrated fighting system incorporating Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Hapkido, Combat Karate, Shotokan Karate, Ninjitsu, Hwrangdo, Knife-Fighting, Boxing, Grappling and Tameshiwari (Breaking). The Sikaron Karate system is a reality-based street fighting system geared for practical self defense applications.

FOUR DIFFERENT LANGUAGES!!! No other martial arts program offers the quality of training and education that the Sikaron Karate Federation offers its students. We include JAPANESE , KOREAN, CHINESE and PHILLIPINE languages! In keeping with the traditional roots of the martial arts and its Asian culture, our students are taught the basic language of Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Philippine. Students are first taught basic counting, and as the student progresses through the belt ranks of Sikaron, the student is taught more and more conversational language. By the time the student reaches black belt level (3-1/2 years) the student is able to teach full classes in these languages!

CHRISTIAN-BASED PROGRAM In keeping with God's laws and the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we teach our students the benefits of living a good Christian life. In this day and age of gangs, school shootings, juvenile crime, terrorism, etc., we are dedicated and committed to guiding our students on the right path to living good, safe and productive lives. For each belt rank, there is a bible scripture taken out of the new testament. Students are required to study and learn these scriptures. Students testing for Black Belt must also learn the Ten Commandments. Our Junior Demonstration Team performs in a Christian format. Our team performs to songs from top Christian recording artists to include: Kirk Franklin, Carmen, INC, Fred H., and others.

SKF SAFETY DAYEvery 3 months, the Sikaron Karate Federation host "Safety Month." In a continuing effort to educate our students, we bring in local "Professionals" to talk to our students about Safety and Danger Avoidance.
